How To Play Timeball
Timeball is a game for 5-8 ballers, with 2 on the champ side and 3-6 on the challenger side. The challengers aim to win 3 points before losing 2. Here's a detailed breakdown:
Objective:
Stay on the champ side the longest to accumulate time. The baller with the most time at the end of the session wins!
Setup:
2 ballers on the champ side, 3-6 on the challenger side.
Challengers try to win 3 points before losing 2.
Gameplay:
Baseline baller on the challenger side hits the first shot to the champ side.
Possible outcomes:
Clean winner by baseline baller: They become champs immediately.
Missed shot: Baller rotates to the back of the line, next baller comes in.
Successful shot: Ballers remain in play.
Champ side net baller touches the first shot: Immediate clean winner for challengers.
After the first shot, all ballers can hit anywhere without restrictions.
Winning:
Champs win 2 points: Challengers move off the court and switch lines.
Challengers win 3 points: Challengers run to the champ side for the next challenger’s first shot.
Additional Rules:
Bonus Minute: Champs get an extra minute at the end.
Poach Rule: Champ side net baller cannot touch the first feed, except for two scenarios.
Exceptions:
Challengers have won their 3 points to come over, either baller can touch or help prevent the first ball winner.
Challenger’s first shot hits the net cord.
Body Ball: You can use your body to hit the ball to the other side.
Axe Throw: You can throw your racket to hit/touch a ball.
Net Touch: You can touch the net during the point.
Exception: If you jump over the net to get to the champ side and touch it the challengers start at 1-0 lead.
Buzzer: No more feeding. So if it is 2-1 play that point out, it’s worth a whole extra minute to your score.
